GROFERS is rebranding to something shorter and snappier, BLINKIT, the online grocery delivery app that has been changing the way we shop in the country since 2014. With a vision to deliver with a blink of an eye.
What is Rebranding?
Rebranding is when your company rethinks your marketing strategy with a new name, logo, or design, with the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of customers and other stakeholders.
Why is rebranding done?
The idea behind rebranding is to create a different identity for a brand, from its competitors, in the market. Description: There are several reasons for a company to go for rebranding. One prominent factor is to connect with customers. Rebranding is good for the business, but at the same time, it may be risky. There is always a possibility that the consumers do not like the new brand.
Online grocery delivery platform Grofers on December 13 said it is rebranding itself as 'Blinkit' to reflect its pivot to quick commerce. It has come up with the idea to deliver groceries in 10 minutes or less. The company now claims to be processing a million such orders every week across 12 cities.
The following was written in Blinkits Blog, “ We sincerely believe q-commerce is the future of commerce. We do not take that statement lightly. Imagine as a user, you have a magical cupboard in the house and you can open it and retrieve what you need when you need it. This is what q-commerce is all about. Our purpose as a company is to make sure the cupboard is always available to you and the products in the cupboard are exactly what you need.”
Dhindhsa believes that now they’re a lot more customers shopping for groceries online and so, even the smaller shopkeepers are ready to deliver online orders. “Local partners and stores are much more willing to join the e-commerce revolution and really want to be a part of new age and technology businesses,” he noted.
While traditional e-commerce services deliver products to a consumer’s doorstep in two to three days’ time, quick commerce or q-commerce is a new sub-vertical, which allows delivery of small quantities of goods in under an hour.
Moreover, e-comm companies manage to do so by developing a network of local stores, small warehouses to stock inventories, all in close proximity to the consumers’ location.
